Girly T Shirt Styles Still on the Rise

For more than a decade now, women have been steering clear of baggy unisex T shirts, going in for more figure-flattering styles and requesting that garment makers custom-cut clothing especially for the female form. As a designer/ screen printer in the shirt merchandising industry, I’ve been noticing wholesalers’ new season catalog covers showing more and more ‘girl power’. Baby doll tops, cap sleeve tees, spaghetti strap tanks and boy beaters are among the slew of new ladies’ junior style offerings moving in along side of the basic boxy tee shirt.

Just as my mom and pop survived the advent of the mini skirt without too much strain on their relationships with their daughters, so now, I too am now wading through the new fashion currents (especially as they affect my own daughter!) In our home, as in our cottage industry, our family values and notions of modesty in dress keep open for us a dialog with the fashion culture. Style and taste are generous enough tents pitched in this dialog so while others will doubtless differ, what follows is of concern to me.

This might surprise you, but even as a designer who wants to maximize profits making first-rate ladies-wear, there are certain styles I can’t promote and won’t place in my ladies wear line. It has always seemed to me there is a fine but necessary line to draw between “sexy” and “racy”. A little of the former is good for self-esteem, and healthy body image; the latter seems to me only to be reveling in over-exposure. I think some styles show too much skin—though very often sizing up larger can compensate for those who, like me, prefer a look that yields a bit more coverage without losing the appeal of the more contoured fit already tailored into the style of the shirt.

Accordingly, I want the spaghetti strap styles that I print on to come up high and I think the print looks better at that level anyway. The raglan cap sleeve tee (“baseball” style, yet thoroughly girly) is another one of my favorites. This style has a major body-area color with different, contrasting sleeve/crew neck colors. The sleeve holes are cut at a diagonal to the neck as opposed to straight up to the shoulder (sometimes called a “box-cut” sleeve). It’s just very cute and flattering to the female form. Other ladies wear styles I consider to be classy are baby doll tops and needle-out tees (inside-out, with contrasting stitches on the seams). New styles seem to keep emerging which makes this market a really fun place for a designer of ladies wear to be.

When it comes to the graphics, elegant and classic is the goal. Prints should enhance the sense of presence already in the style of the garment and be decorative and designerly. I think the use of gold glitter and metallic shades on dark fabrics is simply the bombest and many designs of late incorporating metallic inks are for the most part, rather appealing and quite innovative. Uncluttered, clean- looking prints ooze with that elusive stylishness. A driving standard of graphic design is for the total visual presentation to be harmoniously honed to a single point, both visually and textually. You know this instinctively when you see it—it just grabs you.

I believe that slogans and text should be minimal and when used, confluent with the overall artistry. Cleverly humorous, zany statements are always a sure winner, as are upbeat, positive messages. However, to my way of thinking, in-your-face political messages, vulgar slogans, and shock-value sayings lacking all subtlety don’t make the grade in quality fashion design. Sure, they’re often funny, but isn’t it past time for the text in tee shirt fashions to rise above the level of a readable fart?

Just as styles for ladies are becoming specialized and classier, so surely will their accompanying graphics—doubtless, it’s already happening. Recently I saw a girl in an off-white beater, no print at all on the front. High on the back, however, was a small but intricately crafted pair of filigree angel wings, in a beige print, very decorative, very feminine and somewhat tattoo- like. The text displaying the logo brand name was likewise small and unobtrusive. Bravo!—and more of the same, please!

In almost every form of arts in the planet, design is a very potent and essential element of art. It is oftentimes affected by the trends of specific time, general fashion trends preferences of the artist and a lot more other factors. A very brilliant and vivid example of expression of art in t-shirts is graphic t-shirts.

Graphic t-shirts are considered as an example of two dimensional arts. Because shirts are made of fabric which is one of the most basic art materials it is very easy to put designs on it. In fact, after the advent of shirt fashion revolution different materials has been developed exclusively for designing shirts made from different fabrics. There are textile paints, air brushes, glitter glues, threads, stencils, designs that only needs to be ironed on the shirts and a whole lot more. And because of the feasibility and large market for shirts, maybe also hand in hand with the pursuit of further developing the fields arts, there are different methods of t-shirt printing used by a lot of artists and t-shirt producers in different parts of the world.

On the top of the list is screen printing whereby ink is spread on top of the screen (a thin fabric which serves as the pattern for the design) so that the ink would not spill over to the areas where there should be none. This is widely used especially in mass produced shirts. The down side of this particular method is that it will not very economical to use this if the shirts to be made are relatively a few because screens are quite expensive.

A very similar but manual method is the use of stencil. In this method, patterns are carved out from cardboard or plastic films. These cut outs are put on top of the shirts and paints are applied accordingly. There are many available paints that are compatible to different kind of cloths so it would not be very hard to use this way. In fact, this is one of the most widely used in arts classes and for t-shirt printing in small quantities.

Another simple and quick method is by heat transfer. In this particular methodology, the designs are printed in a special kind of paper after which heat would be applied so that it would be transferred to the shirt. But it also comes with limitations. For one, this is just usual for white shirts, it might be problematic to use it on colored shirts. Also, the quality of designs is not as good as those made through screen printing. Hence, utmost care should be taken. But in general this method is practical and suitable for small scale productions.

Graphic t-shirts are among the most artistic and tedious to make of all kinds of shirts. That is why it is very important to ensure that the best methods- in terms of design details, economy and volume of work to be produced. There are lots of methods in shirt printing, so it will not be very hard for people to find what the best one for their needs is.

Avoid Characteristics That Will Make You Lose Your Shirt

The world of forex trading is one of big money and high risks. Everybody is seeing this market as a promised land, an opportunity to earn a fortune. Nevertheless, seasoned analysts and traders alike have paid the price by being disciplined and knowledgeable; they know that certain ways of thinking will only help them leak out money faster.

Beware novice trainers, if you ever want to be successful in forex trading, avoid being these kinds of people:

The Irresponsible
You better learn how to own up to your mistakes as well as to decide on what to do so you can reach that goal. Responsibility includes learning the ropes of the trade, doing proper research on your assets and brokers and ultimately knowing that your own success lies in nobody else but yourself.

The Sheep
Sheep follow the majority and takes all of their cues from the experts. While going with the flow is not a bad thing in itself, always trusting on expert opinion has proven to be the wrong move for countless traders. A trader must develop his own style of strategy and thinking that will work for his plan and investments.

The Thrill-Seeker
Let us get one thing straight: forex trading is not a game. Serious traders do it because they want to make money. Having fun is not a feature. Sure, there is satisfaction to be earned from the market but anyone not serious about it has no place in the business.

The Impatient
While action is certainly part of the market, most of it is a waiting game. An impatient trader will jump the gun on a bid/price even though he knows the chances of a better figure will come. Many have succumbed to the impatience and recklessness of having money now instead of investing it long term. Profit from trading comes from staying updated with the current flow, knowing when to wait and when to go for it.

The Over Thinker
Some forex traders think they are a cut above the rest with complex ideas and dazzling theories. Most of that lot has failed. Keeping your strategy simple and clean-cut works best in the long run. While some traders have the tendency to over complicate their plans, reasoning that new times call for new ways, keeping track of profit and how you got it should help you to not over think your strategy.

The Over Emotional
Giving in to anxiety clouds judgment because you start to be afraid of losing money and taking risks. A lot of people forget that forex trade involves risks and it is part of the job. The ability to stay positive and being able to bounce back also makes a sturdier, more confident trader.

The Undisciplined
The biggest mistake to make out there in the market is to invest money lacking in discipline. So many traders have lost their fortunes just because they want an easy way to profit minus the hard work and study to attain it. Forex trading requires attention and understanding of the market, and such dedication to learn requires discipline.

Perhaps the most important character trait to throw away is half-heartedness. Forex trading requires a cool head, objectivity and the ability to make those hard decisions that will certainly come your way. To enjoy the fruits of your hard work, you must earn them by being a man of the trade who definitely understands what he is getting into.

A Short History of the T-shirts You Wear in Tampa FL

A Short History of the T-shirts You Wear in Tampa FL

Everyone wears t-shirts, sometimes also called tee shirts, as casual daily wear. T-shirts have become so popular and so integrated into society that schools, organizations and companies use them as uniforms or promotional items, along with golf shirts and polo shirts. You can even buy custom wholesale T shirts with your choice of embroidery or printing. Embroidered shirts are more often used as company uniforms in Tampa FL.

But do you know how the t-shirt has evolved through history?

Records are not clear but the earliest reports of the appearance of garments very similar to today’s t-shirts was in the early 1900s as light cotton undershirts used by European soldiers in World War I. In the 1920s, the word “t-shirt” was actually entered in the English dictionary.

American soldiers took note of the comfortable undershirts of their European counterparts and by World War II the US Army and US Navy incorporated them as underwear beneath uniforms, too. They provided relief against scratchy woolen uniforms.

In 1948, the very first slogan t-shirt appeared for the election campaign of then New York governor Thomas E. Dewey. The t-shirt slogan was “Dew it with Dewey.”

In the early to mid 1950s Hollywood stars John Wayne, Marlon Brando and James Dean began wearing the t-shirt alone and not as an undershirt onscreen. In the film Rebel Without a Cause in 1955, James Dean established the wearing of the t-shirt as an outer shirt fashionable. This signaled the t-shirt rage among teenagers which eventually spread to all age groups.

Around the same time, it was actually in Miami, Florida where the first companies emerged selling t-shirts screen printed with names of resorts and characters from Walt Disney. This was done under license, of course.

In 1959, plastisol was invented. This ink was stretchable and more durable than previous inks used in printing t-shirts, further expanding the possibilities in t-shirt design. It was just in time for the rock-and-roll swinging 1960s when t-shirts practically became the item of clothing that young people lived in.

Specialty inks for t-shirts also appeared on the scene. There are inks that shimmer, are metallic, puff out or even change color with a change in temperature. Other ways of decorating the t-shirt also include embroidery, appliqué, airbrushing and iron on transfers. Heat transfers now include special printouts from laser printers using specialized toner. This way, practically any digital design can be printed on any t-shirt.

Indeed, digital printing on t-shirts or Direct to Garment (DTG) printing has become very popular, allowing the production of even just one t-shirt per design. New developments even allow printing of any design and color on dark t-shirts.

Not only has the t-shirt evolved in terms of decoration but also in its basic form, as well. Originally, the t-shirt, as the name implies, was a simple t-shaped garment with a round neck, short sleeves and no collar, pocket or buttons. This style still persists today but the term t-shirt now encompasses far more than this. There are v-neck versions, boat-neck versions and scoop neck versions. There are collared shirts with or without buttons. There are t-shirts with long sleeves or three-fourth sleeves. There are even sleeveless t-shirts classified as either muscle shirts or tank tops. The t-shirt length now also varies from the basic length between the waist and the hips to a much shorter cropped style or a much longer hip-hop style which reaches the knees. Not to mention the t-shirt dress popular among females.

Today, no one can call t-shirts as “lowly” pieces of clothing. They have found a legitimate place beside other types of functional fashion such as polo shirts and golf shirts. Whether you are wearing custom embroidered T shirts as uniforms or your own statement tee shirts, know that what you are wearing now in Tampa FL has a long history behind it.

How To Use Heat Inkjet Transfer Paper To Make Your Own T-Shirts?

Designing your own t-shirt was never easier than by using a heat transfer paper. The modern technology in heat transfer allows you to design t-shirts costing next to nothing. You can make wonderful designs and transfer them to your t-shirts and impress one and all. It is important to remember that cotton t-shirts make the best base for heat transferring designs. Better still, once you get a hang of the process, you can have innovative designs made and even start a small business.

The first step in this entire process is to choose a design. You can choose from the billions of designs available on the Internet. Just make sure that you are not violating any license. If you are a good artist yourself, you can even make your own designs using a image software like Adobe Photoshop. Once the design is finalized, you are ready to design your t-shirt.

You need to place the heat transfer paper into the paper tray of your inkjet printer. Make sure you place the paper in such a way that the printing happens on the dull side of it. That is the side where the printing has to be done. Now, you need to open the saved image file and make any final adjustments, if needed. You need to flip the image horizontally. The final print will be the reverse of what is showing up in the computer monitor. So, please adjust accordingly. Once the placement is done, print the image on the transfer paper.

Once the image is printed onto the transfer paper, cut out all the sides. You are now left with the shape of the image. All the blank portions of the transfer paper need to be removed.

Now you need to take an iron and heat it up by setting it to cotton. Once the iron is heated up, you need to place the t-shirt on the ironing board and iron it. Remember not to apply any steam. The ironing will remove all the moisture and wrinkles on the t-shirt. Now the t-shirt is ready.

Now place the transfer paper face down on the t-shirt. Place the iron on the transfer paper and iron away. Keep the iron in one portion for about 15 to 20 seconds and then move away to another portion. The best way to transfer the image onto the t-shirt is by starting at the center and then moving outwards in a circular fashion.

Now you need to decide on the finishing. If you want a satin finish, remove the transfer paper while it is still hot and clinging to the t-shirt surface. If you want a glossy finish, then wait for the transfer paper to cool down completely and then remove it. After removing the transfer paper, allow the t-shirt to cool down and the image to dry completely.

Now you have your self designed t-shirt that you made using a heat transfer paper, an iron and your inkjet printer.

Question by t_o_w_e_r_i_n_g: Why does the concept of “fashion” exist? Isn’t it a sign of conformity?
Many people deny that it’s pure conformity, and respond with, “It’s how I express myself.” However, if it’s “how you express yourself” then everyone would be doing it differently and uniquely.
The concept of “fashion” is a bunch of people following a trend in order to feel accepted by a group. It is fleeting, useless, and only a way for the few to make money off the mindless hordes.
Stop spending 0 on a stupid shirt or purse just because of its label, and instead donate the money to charity.
If all the “do-good” liberals & Hollywood elite stopped wasting so much money on “fashionable” items, the concept of poverty could be eliminated. INstead, the liberals only want someone ELSE to handle the problems while they lie back in their designer clothes inside their “trendy” and expensive apartments.
No, but buying & wearing it just because someone else likes it certainly is.
