A Short History of the T-shirts You Wear in Tampa FL

Everyone wears t-shirts, sometimes also called tee shirts, as casual daily wear. T-shirts have become so popular and so integrated into society that schools, organizations and companies use them as uniforms or promotional items, along with golf shirts and polo shirts. You can even buy custom wholesale T shirts with your choice of embroidery or printing. Embroidered shirts are more often used as company uniforms in Tampa FL.

But do you know how the t-shirt has evolved through history?

Records are not clear but the earliest reports of the appearance of garments very similar to today’s t-shirts was in the early 1900s as light cotton undershirts used by European soldiers in World War I. In the 1920s, the word “t-shirt” was actually entered in the English dictionary.

American soldiers took note of the comfortable undershirts of their European counterparts and by World War II the US Army and US Navy incorporated them as underwear beneath uniforms, too. They provided relief against scratchy woolen uniforms.

In 1948, the very first slogan t-shirt appeared for the election campaign of then New York governor Thomas E. Dewey. The t-shirt slogan was “Dew it with Dewey.”

In the early to mid 1950s Hollywood stars John Wayne, Marlon Brando and James Dean began wearing the t-shirt alone and not as an undershirt onscreen. In the film Rebel Without a Cause in 1955, James Dean established the wearing of the t-shirt as an outer shirt fashionable. This signaled the t-shirt rage among teenagers which eventually spread to all age groups.

Around the same time, it was actually in Miami, Florida where the first companies emerged selling t-shirts screen printed with names of resorts and characters from Walt Disney. This was done under license, of course.

In 1959, plastisol was invented. This ink was stretchable and more durable than previous inks used in printing t-shirts, further expanding the possibilities in t-shirt design. It was just in time for the rock-and-roll swinging 1960s when t-shirts practically became the item of clothing that young people lived in.

Specialty inks for t-shirts also appeared on the scene. There are inks that shimmer, are metallic, puff out or even change color with a change in temperature. Other ways of decorating the t-shirt also include embroidery, appliqué, airbrushing and iron on transfers. Heat transfers now include special printouts from laser printers using specialized toner. This way, practically any digital design can be printed on any t-shirt.

Indeed, digital printing on t-shirts or Direct to Garment (DTG) printing has become very popular, allowing the production of even just one t-shirt per design. New developments even allow printing of any design and color on dark t-shirts.

Not only has the t-shirt evolved in terms of decoration but also in its basic form, as well. Originally, the t-shirt, as the name implies, was a simple t-shaped garment with a round neck, short sleeves and no collar, pocket or buttons. This style still persists today but the term t-shirt now encompasses far more than this. There are v-neck versions, boat-neck versions and scoop neck versions. There are collared shirts with or without buttons. There are t-shirts with long sleeves or three-fourth sleeves. There are even sleeveless t-shirts classified as either muscle shirts or tank tops. The t-shirt length now also varies from the basic length between the waist and the hips to a much shorter cropped style or a much longer hip-hop style which reaches the knees. Not to mention the t-shirt dress popular among females.

Today, no one can call t-shirts as “lowly” pieces of clothing. They have found a legitimate place beside other types of functional fashion such as polo shirts and golf shirts. Whether you are wearing custom embroidered T shirts as uniforms or your own statement tee shirts, know that what you are wearing now in Tampa FL has a long history behind it.

How To Use Heat Inkjet Transfer Paper To Make Your Own T-Shirts?

Designing your own t-shirt was never easier than by using a heat transfer paper. The modern technology in heat transfer allows you to design t-shirts costing next to nothing. You can make wonderful designs and transfer them to your t-shirts and impress one and all. It is important to remember that cotton t-shirts make the best base for heat transferring designs. Better still, once you get a hang of the process, you can have innovative designs made and even start a small business.

The first step in this entire process is to choose a design. You can choose from the billions of designs available on the Internet. Just make sure that you are not violating any license. If you are a good artist yourself, you can even make your own designs using a image software like Adobe Photoshop. Once the design is finalized, you are ready to design your t-shirt.

You need to place the heat transfer paper into the paper tray of your inkjet printer. Make sure you place the paper in such a way that the printing happens on the dull side of it. That is the side where the printing has to be done. Now, you need to open the saved image file and make any final adjustments, if needed. You need to flip the image horizontally. The final print will be the reverse of what is showing up in the computer monitor. So, please adjust accordingly. Once the placement is done, print the image on the transfer paper.

Once the image is printed onto the transfer paper, cut out all the sides. You are now left with the shape of the image. All the blank portions of the transfer paper need to be removed.

Now you need to take an iron and heat it up by setting it to cotton. Once the iron is heated up, you need to place the t-shirt on the ironing board and iron it. Remember not to apply any steam. The ironing will remove all the moisture and wrinkles on the t-shirt. Now the t-shirt is ready.

Now place the transfer paper face down on the t-shirt. Place the iron on the transfer paper and iron away. Keep the iron in one portion for about 15 to 20 seconds and then move away to another portion. The best way to transfer the image onto the t-shirt is by starting at the center and then moving outwards in a circular fashion.

Now you need to decide on the finishing. If you want a satin finish, remove the transfer paper while it is still hot and clinging to the t-shirt surface. If you want a glossy finish, then wait for the transfer paper to cool down completely and then remove it. After removing the transfer paper, allow the t-shirt to cool down and the image to dry completely.

Now you have your self designed t-shirt that you made using a heat transfer paper, an iron and your inkjet printer.

Screen Printing Cool T-shirts

A t-shirt is a fashion statement which brings out a person’s personality. You can get a variety of prints suitable for each and every occasion, whether it is Christmas, Halloween, election time or any other. Then you have theme t-shirts that are used for teams of for corporate employees. As the demand for custom-made t-shirts has increased, you will find that the t-shirt screen printing business is booming. A lot of people like to have cool t-shirts with their own designs and slogans printed on them using screen printing.

The procedure of t-shirt screen printing comprises of several steps. First and foremost the design to be imprinted on the cotton t-shirt has to be chosen. Next the design has to be imprinted on the screen. The screen is then positioned on the t-shirt and paint is passed through the screen and on to the fabric of the t-shirt. There are different ways of creating the screen used in the process of screen printing, each of which has its own advantages or disadvantages.

The print that you select for your cool t-shirt should be striking and attractive. It might be artistic, bold or witty depending on what occasion you will be donning the t-shirt. If you have a few plain t-shirts in your wardrobe, then you might want to make use of a good personal screen printing kit. This helps the person to be artistically creative and make the t-shirt his or her canvas to unleash inner artistic talent.

As the demand for custom-made t-shirts is increasing manifold, more and more companies are getting into the business of t-shirt screen printing. This enables customers to have their choice in designs on their t-shirts. However, do keep in mind that when you order in bulk, t-shirts made using screen printing get cheaper since it is not very profitable to print just one piece. A lot of time, money and effort is involved in making the screen and so making use of it just once can be a real waste.

Today, you find more and more people trying their hand at t-shirt screen printing and moreover it adds to their joy of having created their own masterpiece. Besides, these t-shirts made using screen printing make the owner’s wardrobe very unique and bring out his or her personality. Regardless of whether the screen printing is done by individuals at home or people who take it up as a profession, these t-shirts are the ideal way of giving a personal touch to anybody’s garments.

With the introduction of heat transfer patterns, digital printing directly on garments and the continuously enhanced capability to print digitally onto t-shirts which are dark colored, you would think that the process of screen printing done by hand would no longer be in use. Even though you might find that digital printing is a great and economical way to use for small numbers of t-shorts with lots of color in the design, t-shirt screen printing is definitely much cheaper for larger quantities.

Visit us if you have orders for single or even bulk t-shirt screen printing; we have thousands of designs for you to choose from to get cool t-shirts printed as per your choice using screen printing.

Make Your Own Cool T-shirts

These days you find that there is plenty of fun clothing to select from. There are plenty of styles, patterns and designs in cool t-shirts which are an everlasting fad; they never ever go out of fashion. When you are relaxing, you like to wear cotton t-shirts which are very comfortable. You have many companies producing a wide variety of many a silk screen t-shirt which are getting increasingly expressive with original designs and catchy phrases. What is in your mind and heart you can transfer to your customized t-shirt.

A silk screen t-shirt is a fun way of expressing your feelings or personality. You can buy cotton t-shirts in various shades of colors, patterns and sizes with some of the most entertaining slogans on them. When you are happy, you can don a cotton t-shirt with a cute smiley and lots of vibrant colors. Cool t-shirts can really put you in a naughty mood so buy a few and see how people react to them.

Some of the cool t-shirts have great designs and catchy phrases. One of them I saw had very fine print on it and when you got closer to read it, it said “Aren’t you a curiosity cat!!??”  A silk screen t-shirt is not only great fun to wear and make your friends smile and laugh, you can use them as gifts to friends on nearly any occasion. Cotton t-shirts are available for almost every occasion and what’s more, they come in almost every conceivable color and size.

For the last so many years, big companies have been effectively using cool t-shirts as a marketing tactic to advertise their products or services. Some companies give away many a silk screen t-shirt for free and still others sell them at even a profit sometimes. Some companies that have a booth at a trade fair or show give away free t-shirts with their logos to promote their products to people who show interest in their products. But rock bands that perform concerts would sell their t-shirts at a profit rather than give them for away for free.

Whether to opt for digital printing or silk screen printing of t-shirts will depend on the cost of each of the cool t-shirts. Even though the technology of digital printing has heavily invaded the domain of printing of the silk screen t-shirt, silk screen printing still enjoys a large market share. If the order for custom t-shirts is small, then digital printing is the only option as the cost is lesser. But if you opt for a larger number of custom t-shirts, then the silk screen t-shirt will give you the best bargain ever.

Yet another consideration is the color schemes involved. Digital printers use ink that is quite thin in consistency and hence digital printing works best when you use dark colors on cool t-shirts that are light colored. On the other hand, if you need to use lighter colors on darker colored t-shirts, then you should opt for a silk screen t-shirt; silk screen printing lets you use a thicker ink to effectively cover the dark background.

For more information on how to get a silk screen t-shirt, visit us. You can choose from several reliable makes, patterns, sizes and designs to make your own unique, cool t-shirts.

How To Use Inkjet Heat Transfer Paper To Make Your Own T-Shirts

It is not difficult at all to make your very own t-shirt especially nowadays that the technology for doing it has been made accessible for most people. Simply getting heat transfer paper will allow you to make your own t-shirt at very affordable prices. You can be as creative as you want with the designs and it is just a matter of transferring them to the actual shirts. The material that works best with heat transfer paper is cotton. Once you start getting good on your designs, you may even decide to put up your very own t-shirt making business.

Before you can make your own t-shirt, you have to select or make a design. There are so many designs that you can get online as long as they are not bound by copyright law. If you draw or design well, you can use Adobe Photoshop to create and improve your designs. After you have chosen the design, you can now use heat transfer paper to make the shirt.

Put the heat transfer paper in your inkjet printer’s paper tray. The heat transfer paper should be placed in the proper way that will allow your paper to print on its dull side. Look at the design one more time and see if you are perfectly happy with it. The image has to be flipped horizontally because the reverse is what will be printed out. After you have placed the heat transfer paper in the right way, select the print option on your computer.

After the image has been placed on the heat transfer paper, you should cut out everything except the outline of the image. You need to remove all the parts of the heat transfer paper that do not have printing on it.

The next step in making your own t-shirt with heat transfer paper is to use an iron and put the setting to cotton. When the iron is hot enough, you can start ironing it without any steam. Ironing will take out the moisture will prevent your t-shirt from being wrinkled. You are now ready to apply the image onto the shirt.

The heat transfer paper should be placed face down. Iron the heat transfer paper onto the cotton shirt and keep it there for 20 seconds at maximum. Iron on all of the portions. A good tip is to iron at the center first and do a circular motion in ironing the rest of the image.

Buying Cool T-Shirts

A lot of the T-shirts we want can be found in the mall, in record stores and department stores. But it seems ridiculous to pay high prices for a simple, 100% cotton T, and none of us can ever seem to buy as many cool T-shirts as we want.

Cool T-shirts don’t have to be outrageously expensive, if you know where to look. First, make sure to check all the sales racks in every store where you shop for your cool T-shirts. You’re bound to find one or two good items on these racks, though it may take some looking. The mall is not the only place to find cool T-shirts, either. Be sure to check strip malls, which usually contain smaller boutiques, because these stores often have a wealth of cool T-shirts available as well – without the high prices of the mall.

Cool T-shirts are always hot and always in style, so they can be found at any clothing store at all. Don’t be afraid to shop around and look for the best deals, because that’s the only way to save your money. The less you spend on your cool T-shirts, the more cool Ts you can buy!

Making Your Own Cool T-Shirts

Who says you have to buy all your own cool Ts? It’s much cheaper, and more creative, to buy plain cotton T-shirts and have them professionally silk-screened. This process is actually a lot cheaper than buying a pre-printed cool T-shirt, and in the end you’ll end up with a cool T-shirt that’s completely one of a kind.

If you have an artistic flair, or have your own catchphrase, why not have it put on a cool T-shirt that will be uniquely your own? A custom-made T will make a huge fashion statement, and personalize your wardrobe. Making your own cool T-shirts is one way to get the fashion you want, at a price you can afford. And by making your own cool T, you’ll have something that no one else can purchase.

Finding Cool T-Shirts

You can find cool T-shirts anywhere and everywhere. Don’t be afraid to check discount stores, department stores, used clothing stores. Because cool T-shirts are popular and highly in demand no matter the time of year, you can find them everywhere. Sporting goods stores also have a wide range of sports-related cool T-shirts for you to choose from. Once you realize that you can look for cool T-shirts everywhere, finding them becomes a whole lot easier. The harder you look for cool T-shirts, the better your chances that you’ll find fashions that no one else has. Cool T-shirts are about expressing your own unique style, and what better way to do that than by finding cool T-shirts that no one else has?

Cool T-Shirts

When everyone else is wearing cool T-shirts, too, your own sense of style may get lost in the crowd. Customize your Ts with extra touches like buttons, pockets, bits of fabric, ribbon, jewels, even your own added graphics. Don’t be afraid to get crazy, because it’s all in the name of fashion. And you never know – you may end up starting the next trend in cool T-shirts. Display your own personality by adding custom touches to your Ts, and you’ll soon find that other people try to follow your lead and do the same. Even with an everyday item, you can create a fashion trend that will set off waves among your peers.

Funny T-shirts: the New Generation

Funny tshirts are in. They are cool, original, and something you want to wear to set yourself appart. Who doesn’t love the feeling of getting approached by a stranger telling you that he/she loves your shirt and that it makes them laugh.

Probably the main reason you and I want to wear a funny tshirt is for the social purpose it conveys. You want people to love you for it, and to be amused by your tee. And if you choose the right shirt, you certainly will get this result.

However there are a few things you need to consider when you are wearing your funny shirt:

1) You want it to completely match your style and personality. You don’t want to be wearing a shirt that claims you’re a mean drinker (for example) and you are as docile as a hindu cow who has never touched a drink. You want to match your personality traits and find a shirt that expresses that in a funny way.

2) You want to have the right atittude when it comes to using your shirt. Remember, wearing something as extravagant as a funny shirt means you also need to have a certain flair that brings attention to yourself. The right attitude means getting approached more by people in a bar or a social enviroment.

If you only use the shirt as a attention drawer and let your personality do the rest, then you are wearing a funny tshirt in the right way. If you just expect your shirt to carry on the conversation then the joke is on you, since a funny tshirt is all about the first impressions, you take care of the rest.

3) Never mind the haters. Whenever you are wearing something that is not withing society’s “standard limits” then you can surely expect a few people making fun of you or completely hating you, it comes with the territory. Be sure to be with the right attitude whenever you are wearing your funny tshirt and just keep it cool and aloof. Have fun wearing it yourself and you will do great.

In summary, keep those things in mind, and you can sum wearing your funny shirt in one word: confidence.

T-shirts: an Individual Fashion Statement

For many children, the t-shirt emblazoned with a current favourite TV icon normally ranks amongst their most prized possessions, and for t-shirt manufacturers, producing such garments can be an extremely lucrative market. In fact, think of any cartoon character – from the Mr. Men to Walt Disney’s Donald Duck – and you’ll likely find a t-shirt to match.

Although the origins of the t-shirt can be traced back to the First World War, it wasn’t until the 1950s that the garment moved away from its plain exterior, as companies in the United States began experimenting with adding letter and character decorations to the material. The 1960s saw the introduction of the ‘Ringer’-style t-shirt, a t-shirt where the jersey is one colour, while the ribbing around the collar and sleeves is a different, contrasting colour quickly became popular with youths and rock-n-roll fans. The style enjoyed another brief renaissance in the early 2000s.

The same period also saw the emergence of tie-dyeing and screen-printing which led to a massive boom in customised t-shirts, especially throughout the heavy metal era of the 1970s, once bands of that era realised the commercial opportunities available to them. Bands and musical groups began to mass produce t-shirts to promote themselves, many of which would feature album covers and logos on the front, while on the back fans would find tour details and concert dates. These proved to be hugely popular with concert-goers and this trend has continued on with unwavering popularity into today’s subcultures.

During the early 1980s, some musical bands chose instead to emblazon promotional t-shirts with slogans instead of graphics. For instance, the Frankie Goes To Hollywood ‘Frankie Says…’ and Wham!’s ‘Choose Life’ t-shirts became synonymous with 80′s pop culture and could be seen in every town and street in Britain. From the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, t-shirts with prominent designer-name logos were also extremely popular and allowed consumers to exhibit their taste in designer brands in a less expensive manner, while retaining their sense of fashion. Among the many major brands to produce t-shirts for a massed public included Calvin Klein, FUBU and Ralph Lauren.

There have been many fashion trends involving t-shirts. Although they were originally worn as undershirts, often in place of vests, t-shirts are now more frequently worn as the only upper body garment. T-shirts have also become a standard for expressiveness and advertising, with an unimaginable combination of words, graphics and photographs being utilised to decorate garments for wear. Other t-shirt fashions include wearing over-size t-shirts, as seen in modern hip-hop fashion, tight-fitting ‘girly-fit’ t-shirts which are short enough to reveal the midriff, and wearing a short sleeved t-shirt over a long sleeved t-shirt of a different colour.

For adults, perhaps one of the most notable fashion trends in recent years involves wearing t-shirts which feature cartoon and TV characters which hearken back to the wearer’s childhood. With the much-touted 80s revival and the current resurgence of yesteryear’s TV being remade into Hollywood blockbusters or enjoying a TV renaissance, men’s t-shirts have seen increased demand for t-shirts proclaiming the wearer to be a fan of the latest incarnations of Transformers, Spiderman, Dukes Of Hazzard, The A-Team and Knight Rider, among many other 80s favourites.

However, t-shirts featuring cartoon characters from the 80s and even earlier have proven to be equally popular with young adults, both men and women alike, eager to revisit their younger days with ranges including Thundercats, Mr Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man and M.A.S.K also readily available and waiting to be seen on the High Street!
